Lower quality trims decimal precision in path data and drops <title>/<desc> tags for a bigger cut; higher quality keeps more precision for detailed illustrations. Comments and editor metadata (Inkscape/Illustrator cruft) are always stripped.

About This Tool

SVGs exported from Illustrator, Inkscape, or Figma often carry a
lot of invisible weight — editor metadata, comments, and
coordinates saved to far more decimal places than any screen can
actually render. This tool cleans that out. Unlike a JPG or PNG
compressor, nothing here is “lossy” in the visual sense: your SVG
renders identically, it’s just the underlying markup that gets
smaller. Drop your file in and it’s minified immediately, right
in your browser.

Why Minify Your SVGs?

  • ✔ Removes comments and editor metadata (Inkscape/Illustrator cruft) automatically, every time
  • ✔ No visual quality trade-off — the graphic renders exactly the same
  • ✔ Trims excess coordinate precision that no screen can even display
  • ✔ Never makes a file bigger — if minifying wouldn’t help, your original is kept as-is
  • ✔ Batch-clean as many SVGs as you need in one pass
  • ✔ 100% browser-based and private

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this tool free to use?

Yes, completely free, with no sign-up and no limit on how many files you process.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Every file is processed locally in your own browser and never leaves your device.

Will this change how my SVG looks?

No — this isn’t like JPEG or PNG compression. Comments and
editor metadata are always removed since they’re invisible
anyway, and coordinate precision is only trimmed to a level
no screen could render differently. Your graphic renders
the same either way.

What exactly gets removed?

Comments, XML editor metadata (Inkscape and Illustrator
namespaces), and excess whitespace are always stripped. The
quality slider additionally controls how many decimal
places are kept in path coordinates, and — at lower
settings — whether <title>/<desc> tags are removed too.

Will this affect accessibility?

It can, if you use a low quality setting: below a certain
point, <title>/<desc> tags (which screen readers rely
on) are dropped along with other cruft. If your SVG uses
those for accessibility, keep the quality setting higher.

What if my SVG doesn’t get any smaller?

Some SVGs are already clean and minimal, or the file isn’t
valid XML that can be safely parsed. Either way, the tool
keeps your original file rather than risking a broken or
larger result.
